If one of your teeth becomes severely damaged, it may need to be removed. Permanent teeth may also need to be extracted to make room for orthodontic treatment.
When a tooth has to be removed all of the tooth parts that you see and don't see are taken out. These include the enamel, dentin, nerve and roots. The area where the tooth was (gum and bone) are left so that good healing of the area is expected.
We realize that extractions make many patients anxious. Not to worry, between freezing, sedation (if you need it) and other medications we try to make this common procedure as simple and painless as possible!
